Optimizing WordPress blog

After installing WordPress blog, you need to optimize it. I mention some ideas for it.

1. Log-in to WordPress blog and go to Settings section. Click on General tab and specify blog title and tagline.

2. Select Writing tab, select ‘Atom Publishing Protocol’ and ‘XML-RPC’ .

3. Change the settings to what you prefer.

4. Select Media tab, and clear the box if you don’t want to WordPress don’t generate thumbnail automatically.

5. Change permalink, it’s required for SEO., use custom structure ‘/index.php/%category%/%postname%/%post_id%/’

6. Click Miscellaneous tab, and change ‘Store uploads in this folder’ to other folder, so you can manage your media files. And uncheck ‘Organize my uploads into month- and year-based folders’, so you can attach one media to many post.

7. Before you add any new post, add all the categories form post -> categories section.

8. After adding categories, add all the tags form post -> post tags section.

9. Change hello word post title and replace text.

10. Add atleast 10 posts before submitting your site to search engine, like google, yahoo, etc.
